He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbas, The Hermanos and Bible study group. He was a volunteer Firefighter/Search & Rescue. Forest Service as a Park Ranger and Firefighter. Alferino worked in the Railroads, traveling throughout the Western United States and in the potato and mine fields. He is survived by his daughter, Anna (David), their 3 boys, David Jr., Damien and Adam Lucero, daughter, Priscilla (James), their 2 boys, Adrian and Jamey Aaron, daughter, Josephine, son, Dennis Martinez (Ashley) and his children, Miranda, Gabriella, Dennis Jr., Daniella and Angelina, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters, Helen Martinez, Carol Lopez and Isabel Maes, brother, Henry Martinez and numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Martinez, their children, Andres, Gerald, Filemon and Christine, parents, Beroniz and Esquipula Martinez, brothers, Jose, Armando and sister, Adelina, in-laws, Cleofas and Adauto Romero, Nicomedies, Matilde (Moses) Esiquiel, Juan, Frances (Romaldo Romero), Precedes Adolfo Martinez and Olivas Maes. Martinez, 86, of Chamisal passed away on June 26, 2019.
